Best Antique Shopping Destinations in the US
Whenever I step into an antique shop, I can’t help but get swept away by the charm and history that surrounds me. It’s always such a thrill to find the perfect piece, whether it’s a well-made side table with a lovely patina, an intricately designed mirror, or a vintage piece of art. Each item carries a story and the potential to add authentic character to your decor as conversation starters, cherished heirlooms, or quirky objects that bring you joy.
The US is dotted with antique destinations that will leave you inspired. However, with so many places across the country to explore, it can be overwhelming to know where to start. Searching for the hidden gems often feels like a bit of a guessing game. That’s why I’ve put together this guide to share some of my absolute favorite spots across the United States for antique seekers.
Antiquing Across the US
I’ve spent countless trips and weekend getaways combing through antique shops and flea markets across the US in search of just the right pieces to add character and charm to a specific space. Here are my favorite spots across the country!
New York
Just a two-hour drive north of New York City, you can stroll down Warren Street in Hudson, where you’ll find an abundance of antique shops catering to every aesthetic. From exquisite period furniture to unique decor and breathtaking art, there’s always something waiting to catch my eye. I especially love visiting in the fall, when the vibrant foliage creates a stunning backdrop for my antiquing adventures.
While in New York, another worthwhile stop is Millerton, a quaint town with an impressive mix of high-end and delightfully quirky pieces. You can get lost (in a good way!) browsing at Millerton Antiques Center, B.W.’s Eagle Eye, and Montage Antiques. Each shop has its own flavor, making the hunt even more fun!
Massachusetts
Held three times a year, the Brimfield Antique Show and Flea Market is a massive multi-day event hosting thousands of dealers packed into multi-dealer tents, barns, and open-air displays. I love wandering through the maze of eclectic treasures, where each stall presents a delightful mix of curated antiques and charmingly unpredictable finds. It feels more like a vibrant flea market than a traditional antiques showcase, which adds to its charm.
Texas
They say everything is bigger in Texas, and that’s certainly true for antique hunters seeking big finds! If you get the chance, you must experience Round Top. This charming little town transforms during its fall, winter, and spring antique shows, drawing in vintage enthusiasts from all over the country.
Round Top’s iconic 30,000-square-foot Big Red Barn Event Center offers plenty of space to wander through the sprawling aisles of expertly curated booths. I love knowing that every piece here is genuine. The organizers enforce strict rules ensuring only 100 percent antique and vintage goods are sold.
Tennessee
Nashville is a must-visit for antique lovers. Some go-to places include Gas Lamp, which is brimming with unique finds and eclectic decor. If you’re in the mood for more of a vintage farmhouse vibe, check out Patina. Also, don’t leave town without a stop at Preservation Station for an ever-changing collection.
If you find yourself a bit further out, swing by Clinton’s historic Main Street, which offers more than 20 antique shops. You could spend an entire day here! Burrville Antiques and The Shoppe at 350 Market are true standouts. For those who love American antique wood pieces, Lebanon won’t disappoint. And don’t overlook a drive out to Cookeville for a fantastic selection of international finds.
Georgia
Strolling through Savannah, Georgia, you can easily discover many antique shops filled with treasures from a bygone era. Jere’s Antiques is a hidden gem tucked away in a brick warehouse above Riverstreet’s cobblestone streets. Or lose yourself in the atmosphere of Alex Raskin Antiques, where the elegance of an unrestored antebellum mansion combines with fabulous collectibles.
I also adore the flawless finds at Arthur Smith Antiques, the cozy charm of Attic Antiques, and the chance to snag one-of-a-kind pieces from Two Women and a Warehouse. Or, if coastal vibes are more your thing, Brunswick, right outside of St. Simmons Island, has must-visit thrift and salvage stores. These stores offer a delightful mix of vintage treasures waiting to be discovered.
Colorado
Denver's South Broadway, affectionately dubbed “Antique Row,” is another hot spot not to be missed. Each shop has its own distinctive flavor, from merchants who have been curating quality antiques for over 30 years to reimagined boutiques showcasing custom furniture and handcrafted picture frames. With shops like Black Tulip Antiques and Eron Johnson Antiques showcasing everything from mid-century modern to classic vintage, you’ll definitely leave with a piece (or five) that tells a story!
Florida
For a splash of glamour, make your way to Palm Beach and stop by Show Pony. Nestled in the picturesque Flamingo Park, this gem has captured hearts since it opened in 2019. Its “coastal contemporary” curation of antiques blends timeless charm with a fresh, breezy aesthetic. You’ll discover chic and stylish pieces that perfectly reflect the local vibe.
Maine
Driving through Maine, you’ll find charming antique stores along the byways and back roads. The state’s deep reverence for history and its charming old homesteads and estates create the perfect backdrop for some seriously fantastic antiquing.
York Antiques Gallery and Michael Dunn Antiques in Wiscasset are just a few places where you can lose track of time while sifting through unique finds. The Wiscasset Antiques Mall is an adventure in itself, housing over 100 dealers across a sprawling 13,000-square-foot showroom!
New Jersey
In Sussex County, visit The Andover Village, which showcases a delightful array of antiques and vintage collectibles across multiple storefronts. While in this general area, you absolutely can’t miss the Hamburg Antique Center if you’re searching for antique furniture. Established in 2004, it spans two floors filled with rooms and rooms of antiques from 40 different individual dealers.
Throughout the rest of the state, stop into Ridgewood and swing by Town Home, where the owner has a knack for sourcing pieces from estate sales. If pottery and baskets are more your style, then Morristown’s Big Green Barn should be at the top of your list!
Pennsylvania
Antique stores in this state offer a rich history of manufacturing and craftsmanship. While you can often find an antique store on many small town main streets, you’ll want to schedule a stop in Adamstown, which earns its self-proclamation of Antiques Capital USA.
The Stoudt's Black Angus Antique Mall in Adamstown offers an impressive selection, with over 300 dealers showcasing everything from vintage books to exquisite estate jewelry. Every corner is a little adventure waiting to happen, especially during their Antiques Extravaganza Weekends held in the spring, summer, and fall.
Connecticut
While in Norwalk, plan a stop at the Fairfield County Antique and Design Center. It’s packed with finds that can elevate any design scheme! Over 26 dealers showcase thoughtfully curated vignettes. You’ll discover everything from stunning antique furniture to quirky vintage clothing and eclectic art. Every corner offers a new adventure, and each display tells its unique story. You’d be hard-pressed to leave empty-handed!
Iowa
If in Iowa, Walnut is proudly home to 15 antique shops. Don’t miss Granary Mall and Mabel's Old Fashioned Rose. The annual Walnut Antique Show covers two indoor halls and stretches across 17 blocks, making it a can't-miss destination. You never know what you might discover, be it a rustic apple basket or a beautifully preserved quilt that adds a touch of nostalgia to your home.
Illinois
Galena has become a hotspot for those looking to snag collectibles and delightful surprises. Begin your visit in Peace of the Past, which displays an impressive collection of over 30,000 pieces across its two locations, offering everything from vintage books to unique jewelry.
Also, plan a stop at Tin Pan Alley, with its delightful assortment of Victorian and Mid-Century Modern treasures, followed by The Red’s Iron Yard & Wholesale Barn, where you can hunt for quirky yard decor and vintage sleighs that add rustic charm. Finally, The Galena Antique Mall promises an unforgettable shopping experience in this historic town.
Kentucky
Lastly, the tiny community of Hazel, nestled close to the picturesque Kentucky Lake, may have just over 400 residents, but it delivers a large haul of vintage treasures! Hazel’s Main Street, a hidden haven for antique enthusiasts, offers 12 delightful antique stores, including Blue Moon Antiques and Mantiques. You’ll likely find a remarkable variety of vintage finds, whether you’re on the lookout for a stunning vintage credenza or quirky decor that sparks a conversation.
